Senior Business Partner, Alberta Clinical Research Consortium

(18-month term)

 

Alberta Innovates is seeking a Senior Business Partner, Alberta Clinical Research Consortium for a 18-month term to provide both stakeholder management and program management within the Health Platforms division. This position is accountable for managing and advancing the Alberta Clinical Research Consortium (ACRC) strategic priorities, and other activities as identified by the ACRC Executive Committee and Health Platforms. The position is expected to proactively act in the interests of Albertans to grow a robust efficient clinical research ecosystem in Alberta. This will include working collaboratively with partners, maintaining, and brokering relationships to co-develop and co-deliver activities.  

 

This full-time position will be based in our Bell Tower office, located in downtown Edmonton.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Lead the management, planning and executionof the activities in the ACRC program ensuring stakeholders (industry, academia, government, health system) and stakeholder committees are aligned with and included with the activities.
  • Lead the evaluation and reporting of the activities to create value-add products, linkages and partnerships for a robust clinical research ecosystem that maximizes potential investment, outcomes and impacts of clinical health research for the benefit of Albertans.
  • Acts as a resource for researchers, companies, investors to navigate and overcome challenges and barriers they may encounter in conducting clinical health research in Alberta.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a communication strategy for assigned programs and initiatives. Works closely with Health team and Alberta Innovates (AI) Communications colleagues to convey the value and impacts of our investments internally and externally to AI. 

 

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health related and/or business program; advanced degree preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in a clinical health research and innovation administration environment
  • Extensive knowledge of the applicable regulations in clinical health research provincially, nationally and internationally.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining good working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of the health and innovation environment in Alberta.
  • Knowledge of emerging health technologies, strategies and policies and their application across the continuum from health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention.
  • Knowledge of political/government structures and processes.
  • Project/program management skills.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage resources, time, stress and work under pressure and high demands.
  • Ability to manage and respond to change and work in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills to convey concepts and information
  • Relationship management skills incorporating negotiation techniques.
