Senior Business Partner, Health Platforms (4 year Term)

Alberta Innovates is seeking a Senior Business Partner, Health Platforms for a 4 year term position for both stakeholder management and program management within the Health Platforms division. This position is accountable for managing and advancing the Alberta Digital Health Resource Ecosystem (ADHERE) strategic priorities, and other activities as identified. The position is expected to proactively act in the interests of Albertans to grow a robust efficient evaluation of digital health technologies. This will include working collaboratively with partners, maintaining, and brokering relationships to co-develop and co-deliver activities.

Job Details

Responsibilites include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Managethe program(s):
    • Map the critical path including a logic model and manage the activities.
    • Ensure the completion of activities and outcomes including implementation are achieved within the stated timeframe.
    • Course-correct and consider for incorporation continuous feedback to ensure relevancy and achievement of outcomes.
    • Identify and manage resources as necessary including statement of work and completion of deliverables.
    • Support program management and governance (i.e. working group, advisory, executive committees)
  • Lead the evaluation and facilitation during the lifecycle of investments including time and resources to create value-add linkages and partnerships to achieve and maximize potential outcomes and impacts from our investments for the benefit of Albertans.
  • Acts as a resource and timely respond to stakeholders to overcome challenges and barriers in digital health technologies (TRL 3-7) they may encounter as they work towards agreed upon impacts.
  • Manage the development of program(s):
    • Identify and ensure stakeholders (industry, academia, government, health system) are continuously aware, informed and engaged in the identified program(s).
    • Perform needs assessments and information gathering to support informed decision making.
    • Work with the stakeholders to identify gaps, trends and emerging opportunities.
    • Gather the necessary information – i.e. literature review, stakeholders – to help inform decision-making, working group and committee meetings.
  • Ensure alignment of the program and activities with AI, GoA, and AI Health objectives
  • Monitor project status and report progress updates; manage project change requests.
  • Review and assess project progress and final project reports.
  • Assist efforts to ensure results and findings are implemented in Alberta.
  • Coordinate and communicate project monitoring and change management processes.
  • Provide guidance related to relevant policies, procedures, and strategic considerations.
  • Contribute to program and portfolio evaluation and measurement by developing strategies and reporting tools for implementation across the portfolios.
  • Provide portfolio-related services such as responding to requests for information, conducting portfolio analysis, and compiling program/project status updates.
  • Build stakeholder relationship by acting as a liaison, responding to administrative requests, and developing budgetary forecasts.
  • Participate in project steering committees and maintain regular interaction with stakeholders.
  • Participate in workshops, conferences, cross-ministry working groups, and other events to advance health initiatives.

 

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health related and/or business program; graduate degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a research and innovation administration environment
  • Experience establishing and maintaining good working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Broad knowledge of the health and innovation environment in Alberta.
  • Knowledge of emerging health technologies, strategies and policies and their application across the continuum from health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention.
  • Knowledge of political/government structures and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining client and partner relationships.
  • Project/program management skills.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage resources, time, stress and work under pressure and high demands.
  • Ability to manage and respond to change and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills to convey concepts and information.
