Senior Manager, Operations Excellence & Integration
Alberta Innovates is seeking a Senior Manager, Operations Excellence & Integration to join our Health team. This position is responsible for designing, planning, facilitating, and managing processes to support operational excellence, business integration, reporting, and issues management across the Health business unit. Key accountabilities include leading and managing organization integration efforts, addressing operational efficiency challenges through the design and implementation of processes and technology, overseeing interactions and collaboration with organizational shared corporate services, responsible for facilitating the execution of internal corporate initiatives including business planning and reporting, and liaising with Executive Directors and Directors within the Health Team to maintain situational awareness of issues.

Job Details
Reporting to the Vice President, Health this position is responsible for, but not limited to:
Operational Integration
- Collaborates with the VP Health and Executive Director Leadership to facilitate opportunities for cross-collaboration and sharing of resources to develop and deliver on integrated strategies; elevates the Health Team where the service strategy is clear, complimentary goals and measurements are in place for all functions, and the leadership team has a unified vision(s) with continuous focus on renewal and expansion.
- Provides advice and recommendations to inform strategic planning processes, service improvements and decision making.
- In collaboration with leaders, facilitates the formulation of the overall integration plan including strategies, timeline, and associated resource needs.
- In consultation with the VP Health and Executive Directors, oversees the development of operating measures and targets that are aligned with Alberta Innovates’ strategy and business plan.
- Leads the development and institutionalization of a performance evaluation and reporting framework and ensures processes and protocols are established and monitored for adherence and effectiveness, identifying issues and potential areas of vulnerability and risk, and recommends approaches to resolve issues and improve processes, programs and practices.
Corporate Service Liaison
- Oversees centralized corporate services functions within Alberta Innovates. Liaises with Alberta Innovates Corporate Service departments to improve engagement, efficiency and ensure responsible financial management, progressive people management, and effective communications.
- Leads and supports the execution of Corporate Services projects in collaboration with Health Team leadership to ensure integration and change management success.
- Acts as sponsor or champion of corporate change initiatives and programs that promote the desired culture, values, and behaviors in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
- Leads change management activities and initiatives; supports change management for organizational systems integration initiatives and corporate systems such as: financial, resource management, contracts, pricing and approval systems, processes, and controls.
- Develops collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, peers and colleagues to understand business activities and issues, gather feedback on effectiveness of corporate services, collaborate on projects and initiatives, and identify opportunities to leverage resources, remove roadblocks and influence outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate in a Related Discipline
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in progressively responsible business or corporate development roles.
- In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. project management, evaluation, etc.).
- Demonstrated change management skills and leading people through transformational change.
- Experience leading diverse teams in complex organizations.
- Ability to lead strategic planning activities and identify, develop, and implement actions to support business plan objectives.
- Proven ability translating strategic goals of the organization into tangible measures and targets that can be operationalized and measured for success.
- Sound judgement and demonstrated ability to make decisions with incomplete information.
- Demonstrated ability influencing others through negotiation, persuasion, and consensus building.
- Exceptional communication skills demonstrated through writing, verbally, and in presentations.
- Strong group facilitation skills and ability to navigate different perspectives.
- Excellent judgment and ability to find innovative ways to solve problems.
