Vice President, Finance – Edmonton, Alberta

Reporting to the CEO, this person acts as a strategic partner to the CEO, providing strategic oversight for the financial activities of Alberta Innovates. This position is integral to organizational success and supports the mission, vision, and goals of the organization. Working with the senior leadership team and key stakeholders externally, they will lead the business and financial strategy of AI and its subsidiaries InnoTech Alberta and C-FER Technologies. Key accountabilities include leadership, coordination of business planning, financial services, overall budget planning, reporting, technology, the Capital Plan and strategic risk management of the organization.  Their portfolio includes the Finance, Corporate Planning & Reporting, and Information Technology teams.  

 

This calls for a Senior Finance Executive that brings strategic thinking and broad organizational experience. They will have a deep understanding of financial management, ideally with experience fostering collaborative stakeholder relationships and leading change initiatives. They will also need to be a people manager and able to effectively work with a Board of Directors and external auditors. The ideal candidate will be a broadly skilled, sophisticated finance leader with 15+ years’ experience and hold an accounting designation and a university degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline. Experience interacting with the Alberta Treasury Board, meeting government reporting requirements and managing government relations would be an asset.
