InnoTech Alberta’s Advanced Materials and Monitoring Division is a dynamic team of engineers, scientists, and technologists with mandate to de-risk and accelerate materials, manufacturing, and monitoring solutions to address industry operational challenges and innovation requirements. Specifically, the Advanced Materials and Monitoring Division works closely with industry clients to:
- Validate material performance and integrity management solutions for industrial application to enable improved asset reliability and longevity, reduced maintenance and repair costs, and lower environmental impacts
- De-risk advanced manufacturing technologies for industrial deployment to improve competitiveness, increase asset longevity, and lower environmental impacts
- Deploy monitoring solutions to address niche integrity, reliability, and process measurement challenges and improve operational efficiencies.
The Co-op position – in partnership with accredited Canadian University - will support the team’s our applied research, technology and innovation projects, mostly in area of materials testing.
Working under direct supervision of a professional materials engineer, meaningful work experiences will be provided:
- Support of project execution, assist in analysis and processing of measured data and reporting on findings
- Assist in scoping potential new research areas including literature reviews
- Involve with our on-going modeling and algorithm development, training and validation activities.

Requirements:
- Current enrolment in Materials, Mechanical, or Metallurgical Engineering program in accredited Canadian university where co-op program is required by their curriculum.
- Experience with programming languages is considered a benefit
- General proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment and complete individual assignments.
Students should have a strong interest in research or innovation activities in materials, chemical and/or mechanical engineering and related areas of equipment design, instrumentation, and computer applications. Preference will be given to students looking for an eight (8) month Co-op term. This will be full-time role where the successful student can anticipate working 36.25 hours per week
