Information Security Analyst
Alberta Innovates is seeking an Information Security Analyst to support the organization’s technical environments as they relate to the five functions of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity framework: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover. The successful incumbent will ensure the safeguarding of the organization’s data and intellectual property, and continuous development and enhancement of the cybersecurity programme.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Information Technology, the Information Security Analyst is responsible for (but is not limited to) the following:
- Support the design and implementation of organizational policies and risk assessments.
- Contribute to the identification of security risks through research and analysis as they relate to technology, architecture, policies and standards.
- Supports the application of risk mitigation activities.
- Reviews security reports, tickets and alerts and take required actions to resolved or mitigate the risks.
- Perform digital forensic investigations on security breaches in accordance with established processes and procedures.
- Participate in the planning and development of cybersecurity initiatives, policies and designs.
- Perform security threat risk assessments on applications, systems and cloud services as required.
- After-hour support or on-call activities as required.
- Collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders including cybersecurity vendors, and managed service providers.
- Contribute to the creation of a Disaster Recovery strategy for IT services and participate in disaster recovery activities.
- Support the maintenance of the Business Impact analysis to ensure all applications and services are reviewed annually.
- Play and active role in the investigation and recovery of systems and data as a result of a disaster.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in computer science, Information technology or related program. A degree is preferred.
- A commensurate amount of education and experience will also be considered for the role
- At least three (3) years combined experience in Information Technology roles like IT infrastructure support, network support, cybersecurity and/or cloud services.
- One or more years of experience in cybersecurity operations: log analytics, forensics, risk analysis or monitoring.
- At least one year of managing vendor services.
- Cybersecurity certification: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Cert5ified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Azure cloud experience
- Private sector experience is preferred but a combination of private and public sector experience is ideal.
- Ability to develop and maintain stakeholder and vendor relationships.
- Exceptional verbal, written, listening, communications and interpersonal skills to convey concepts and information.
- Operate with a sense of urgency.
- Strategic planning and execution, creating roadmaps for improving security operations and capabilities.
- Attention to detail.
- Self-assured, confident and result-oriented
