Intermediate Technologist Fermentation

InnoTech Alberta is seeking a qualified Technologist to work within our fermentation team in the Bio Industrial Services Group on our Fermentation team.

The successful incumbent will responsible for, but not limited to:

 

  • Duties involving all aspects of large scale fermentation vessel and process equipment operations in an industrial environment
  • Assisting in the design and execution of large scale fermentations
  • Conducting sample analysis in support of large scale fermentation in an industrial environment
  • This position requires shift and weekend work as the fermentation plant operates 24/7
  • This position occurs in an industrial setting and will expose the individual to chemicals, biohazards, moving equipment and elevated noise levels
  • This position is physical in nature and the successful incumbent will be required to lift up to 50 pounds

 

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Process/Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biological Science, or a related discipline
  • 5 or more years’ experience in fermenter operation or other related experience
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently as well as on a highly integrated team
  • A high degree of mechanical aptitude, ability to work with complex machinery and an ability to problem solve.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Computer knowledge including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with steam operations, centrifugation and filtration would be an asset
  • Skills in equipment and/or instrumentation maintenance and/or design and/or maintenance would be an asset.
