Manager, Industrial Sensor Technology and Informatics

Our Industrial Sensor Technology and Informatics team conceptualizes, develops, designs and builds a wide variety of sensors for clients in several sectors.  These sensors provide users with real time on-line measurements of feedstock, process conditions and process outputs.  In addition, the team utilizes information from these sensors to construct AI-based models that assist clients in achieving optimal operational efficiencies.

 

The Manager is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day client service delivery within the Industrial Sensor Technology and Informatics team and the development and execution of projects, programs, and initiatives in alignment with defined Division priorities. Responsibilities include (but are not limited too):

 

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic, business, and operational plans.
  • Responsible for the management and leadership of staff activities within the Industrial Sensor Technology and Informatics team.
  • Use and apply innovative technical capabilities to design projects and programs (including experiments), oversee execution, analyze data and draw conclusions.
  • Act as a convenor in the industry to coordinate collaborative multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Coordinate project outcomes including budgets, deliverables and communicate on behalf of the team.
  • Implement work plans, including organizing and overseeing project teams, managing budgets and resources.
  • Provide consultation on projects within the Division and with others to enhance multi-disciplinary capabilities.
  • Negotiate and arrange contractual agreements with clients.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to employees.

 

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:

 

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline or a bachelor’s degree with extensive, applicable work experience. (PhD is preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Comfortable  managing experts with a wide variety of complementary skills.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures in a design, develop and build environment is essential.
  • A valid driver’s license is required. 
  • Must be registered or be eligible to register with an applicable Professional Organization in Alberta.
