Manager, Information Management

Alberta Innovates is seeking a Manager, Information Management to provide oversight to the Library and Records Management program for Alberta Innovates (AI), InnoTech Alberta and C-FER Technologies, as well as for the administration of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Legislation. This position will be responsible for establishing policies, procedures and service standards; providing direction, advice and coordination of department records in accordance with policies and legislation; budget and resource management; leadership, coaching and career development of direct reports; and, identification, development and implementation of process or system improvements.

Intrigued? Here’s some more information about the position:

  • Responsible for records Management, FOIP and the Library
  • Process FOIP requests and make final recommendations for the disclosure of records.
  • Manage and prepare any investigation or complaints arising from decision taken in regard to a FOIP request undertaken by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
  • Ensure organizational compliance relating to the FOIP Act regarding collection, use and disclosure of personal information.
  • Ensure requests for all areas of Information Management are completed accurately and within the established timeframes.
  • Directs and manages staff workflow including planning, allocation, prioritization of work and cover off.
  • Leads effective performance management process, develops and implements employee professional development plans.
  • Develop and maintain Business Classification Scheme based on functional methodology for managing electronic records in an Electronic Information Management System.
  • Establish, maintain and enhance comprehensive records retention and disposition schedules.
  • Provide FOIP advice for consistence usage and messaging across the organization.

 

Qualifications;

  • Undergraduate Degree in Records Management or Library and Information Studies is preferred
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) is preferred
  • Minimum 8 years related experience with at least 3 years working in a team leadership role
  • Experience processing FOIP requests
  • Working knowledge of budget planning and forecasting
  • Knowledge of Government policies and practices and experience implementing electronic information management systems will be an asset
  • Ability to provide leadership, performance management and guidance to the team.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Ability to meet established timeframes define in the FOIP Act.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, work in a fast paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel between sites as required.
  • Proficiency with the English language.
