Alberta Innovates is seeking a portfolio reporting analyst for a 14 month term position. The successful incumbant will be responsible for providing a wide range of analytical support relating to operational planning metrics, reporting on Alberta Innovate’s portfolio, and providing input and recommendations which support portfolio prioritization and tracking of results.

This position provides overall portfolio management support including, but not limited to:

  • The development, coordination and monitoring of portfolio management reporting (e.g. compiling status reports including milestones, issues, risks, accumulated costs, forecasts of current state versus baseline, benefits and outcomes achieved) and distributing key reports to appropriate stakeholders as required
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize efficiency and quality
  • Liaise with Operations and Finance to collect investment information, define & report on measurable outcomes and support the planning process
  • Manage and perform reporting on investment related issues, risks and decisions. Participate in the solution development process
  • Analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of business cases and/or processes and develop strategies for improvement
  • Assist in ad-hoc corporate projects as needed

 

Qualifications;

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
  • Designations for CPA, CFA or MBA are desirable
  • 5+ years’ work experience  in any of the following areas or some combination of:  audit, business analysis, project office support, project controller, and / or portfolio management support;
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate on and coordinate activities with large group of individuals from a variety of disciplines or sectors
  • Demonstrates the ability to make things happen and is focused on execution;
  • Experience in translating business data into digestible information that improves organizational processes
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills and time management
  • Experience in working in a fast pace environment and be able to multitask
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal, written, listening)
  • Advanced MS Office skills are required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience in MS Project and Visio is an asset
  • Experience in business / portfolio analysis is an asset
  • Practical experience in project management processes and reporting is an asset
  • Experience working with portfolio and/or project management software is an asset
