Senior Dynamics Platform Analyst

Alberta Innovates (AI) is seeking a Senior Dynamics Platform Analyst that will join the Digital Services team and be the subject matter expert for the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform. This position will provide technical and strategic leadership of the platform, develop strategies and recommendations, provide operational support for existing D365 systems and support the implementation of new ones.

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Services, the Senior Dynamics Platform Analyst brings technical leadership and operational capacity to the existing team of dynamics analysts. Dynamics 365 services a strategic platform for the organization, with D365 Sales launched as our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform last fall. This position will play a significant role in the continued implementation of our application modernization strategy for the next few years. As team operations and procedures matures, this position may evolve into a leadership role over time.


The successful incumbent will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following: 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and objectives for Dynamics 365 applications, gathering and analyzing requirements.
  • Utilize Dynamics 365 development tools and technologies to design and develop custom solutions that extend and enhance Out of the Box (OOTB) functionality.
  • Design and implement robust data models and architectures, ensuring integrity, security, and scalability.
  • Develop custom business logic, workflows, and plugins to automate processes and integrate with external systems.
  • Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance activities to validate functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior developers, facilitating knowledge sharing and skills development.
  • Document technical designs, code implementations, and deployment procedures according to organizational standards.
  • Support deployment, configuration migration, and user training activities to ensure successful adoption.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and performance of Dynamics 365 applications, proactively addressing potential issues.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes and procedures, delivering engaging presentations to stakeholders and fostering open communication channels.


Educational Requirement:

  • Post-secondary education or a University Degree from a recognized institution in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related program.


Experience and Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in progressively responsible roles within Information Technology
  • 5 years of experience supporting the Dynamics 365 platform
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience of cloud platforms and services.
  • Track record of successfully leading and developing technical teams, managing complex projects, and delivering impactful business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines within Dynamics 365 environment, ensuring smooth and efficient deployment processes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Power Platform: Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to translate business needs into data strategies and initiatives.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and code development tools (Azure DevOps, Git).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.


Nice to Have:

  • Proficient in using or delivering Azure cloud services in an enterprise setting.
  • The combination of private and public sector experience is ideal.
  • Proficient in C#, SQL, JavaScript, and HTML
  • Experience managing vendor resources and vendor performance and establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
