Senior Program Manager – Entrepreneurial Investments
Alberta Innovates is seeking a Senior Program Manager who will be responsible for managing and implementing strategies for Entrepreneurial Investments (EI) funding programs. The successful candidate will ensure programs are run efficiently and effectively to achieve the desired outcomes and will work with early stage Alberta-based technology companies as well as internal and external stakeholders to ensure programs are designed and delivered to meet EI’s portfolio outcomes and client needs. This position is also expected to proactively act as a resource for the Executive Director to ensure reporting of strong portfolio outcomes as well as a resource for other program managers and client facing staff in the delivery of the investments.
This is a full-time permanent role, preferably based in Edmonton, Alberta. Qualified and interested candidates eyeing to be based in Calgary are also encouraged to apply.

Job Details
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Program Delivery and Management
- Develop and maintain appropriate communication processes with various stakeholders to ensure timely and appropriate exchange of information and delivery of investments to investees.
- Develop project milestones with client after approval of an application
- Monitor progress of investments to ensure projects progress and alignment to funding agreement.
- Act as the client facing contact on the website for program specific inquiries.
- Manage the development and implement Entrepreneurial Investments marketing and communication strategies related to EI funding programs and outcomes with corporate communications team.
- Recommend and implement continuous program and process improvements across the suite of EI funding programs
- Represent Entrepreneurial Investments on internal and external working committees related to programs.
- Prepare program progress reports, quarterly reports for management, keep documentation and program and financial reporting up to date
- Apply strong grants process knowledge, evaluation skills and relationship building to projects involving the creation of strategic partnerships to support EI funding programs or the development of new funding programs.
- Work with external partners where required to deliver on program requirements.
- Gather and analyze relevant business intelligence, industry best practices, global opportunities, market trends, client feedback, and emerging technologies to support the program design.
- Manage a team of program managers to support delivery of the above activities.
Qualifications / Experience we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration, economics, science or engineering; preference will be given to those with MBA or related to quality/process improvement.
- Minimum 8 years post graduate work experience, and 2 years management or leadership role.
- Entrepreneurial industry experience.
- Proven experience in implementing and execution of collaborative projects.
- Familiar with Alberta’s social, economic, environmental and technological needs and priorities.
- Experience in working in/with government and industry, a wide range of sectors, innovative technology development, and supporting programs
- Preferred experience include:
- Process improvement experience
- Program evaluation experience
- Project management
- Client coaching and relationship management
- Strong understanding of grant process governance and risks
