Senior Project Coordinator, Facilities Services

 

Alberta Innovates is seeking a Senior Project Coordinator who will provide overall administrative direction, planning, development and implementation of the organization’s capital, facility and potentially operational projects.  This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Edmonton Research & Development Park.  The successful candidate will be assigned a role title of Project Manager, Facilities Services.

Reporting to the Manager, Project Management Office, the Senior Project Coordinator will act as a resource on technical inquiries, assist with the identification and resolution of base building and technical issues, and keep projects on time and budget. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Participate in the facilities and capital planning process, and integrate it with the annual planning process. As part of the capital planning process, ensure all facility related matters are addressed in the proposed project plan and budget.
  • Lead  facility related capital projects programming, development and implementation.
  • Actively contribute to the establishment of, promotes, supports and ensures consistent application of the organization's project management standards and practices.
  • Make improvements to the current capital implementation systems and processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring all corporate projects follow all safety policies, applicable standards and procedures.
  • Ensure change management issues are addressed effectively to support project planning and implementation.
  • Act as and/or assist Alberta Infrastructure project manager for project tender, administration and project implementation.
  • Coordinate/facilitate engineering design and tender document preparation.
  • Develop project feasibility studies.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in a related field, (Interior Design, Engineering, Architecture/Environmental Studies).
    • A commensurate amount of work experience and educational credentials will be considered for the role.
  • 3-5 years experience in capital project planning, development and management.
  • Experience in a research & development (R&D) environment is considered an asset
  • Working experience with AutoCAD is considered an asset
  • Familiar with R&D facility design, operations and management.
  • Formal training/experience in project coordination/management.
  • Strong inter-personal and communication, and negotiation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with others
