Agricultural Field Technologists (4 Months – Casual Position)
InnoTech Alberta is seeking an Agricultural Field Technologist for our Bio-Industrial Pilot Facilities & Operations team in Vegreville to provide support in the delivery of field crop and Cannabis research.
This casual role engagement will start on May 5th, 2025 and anticipated to end on September 5th, 2025.

Under the direction of researchers and senior technologists, the agricultural field technologist will be accountable to support (but not limited to) the following items:
- Small plot field research, including plot installation, maintenance, and data collection and entry
- Plant and microbial experiments in greenhouses and growth chambers including measuring of plants, recording results, and identifying plant stressors
- Greenhouse care and maintenance
- Laboratory activities in microbial and molecular biology laboratories
- Farm operations support including the operation of tractors, sprayers, air seeder, and combine
- Maintain organization and cleanliness (general housekeeping).
- Handle, store and dispose of chemical and waste materials.
- Adhere to SOPs, quality control, and quality assurance procedures, processes, and regulations.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Actively contribute to conducting assessments, responding to and implementing corrective actions resulting from safety and quality audits.
Qualifications:
- Completion of High School with an interest in agriculture research
- Two years of previous related work experience in agricultural small plot research in Canada would be an asset
- Experience in handling chemicals and pesticides will be a plus
- Be able to perform delicate work
- The successful candidate must have the interest and patience to perform sometimes repetitive or meticulous work while collecting high quality data
- Excellent verbal communication skills as part of a team
- Able to work in both field and lab settings efficiently
- Proficiency in office software, including spreadsheets, is preferred
- Experience in the operation of farm equipment is a strong asset
- Minimum class 5 license, preferably
