Junior Technologist, Bio-Industrial Services R&D
InnoTech Alberta is seeking a Junior Technologist to join our Bio-Industrial R&D team in Vegreville, Alberta. The Junior Technologist will support more senior staff in the development, organization, monitoring of experiments and the maintenance of operations equipment predominately associated with biomass materials and operations.

Working under the direct supervision of scientists and senior technologists, the junior technologist will be responsible for a variety of duties focused on operating instruments and equipment associated with industrial scale fibre processing and material agglomeration in pellet mills and other related equipment. In all instances, installation, and maintenance of the equipment and data collection will be required. The successful incumbent will be accountable for (but not limited to) the following:
• Operating various process and mobile equipment including industrial scale material conveyance equipment, farm machinery and numerous benchtop instruments
• Servicing equipment and performing minor troubleshooting and repair tasks
• Completing a variety of tasks within the various Bio-Industrial Pilot Facilities & Operations groups and when required able to work in the field, pilot plant, or laboratory
• Supporting projects and programs as part of a collaborative team including client engagement
• Data entry and the accurate recording of experimental information
• Manual lifting, shoveling, and housekeeping with the ability to endure long days and varied conditions while collecting high quality data
Qualifications:
• Degree or technical diploma in related science or technology field, preferably, mechanical / chemical / instrumentation / power technology systems, or applied process chemistry. Direct and relevant experience may be considered in leu of education.
• One year of related technical work experience
• Other relevant post-secondary education with experience is considered an asset
• Mechanical equipment knowledge and experience in the operation of industrial equipment and/or farm equipment is a strong asset
• Comfortable working within an industrial setting and familiar with industrial hazards and processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to write technical data reports.
• The successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Minimum Class 5 license
