Opportunity for Summer Students

(Lab Technologist, Applied Chemistry – Vegreville location)

 

 

Alberta Innovates is looking to provide meaningful work experience to students who are currently enrolled in any recognized post-secondary educational institutions.  This engagement starts during the first week of May 2025 for four months, but we are open to extending until December if that is an option, especially under Co-Op arrangements.

 

Successful candidates will be paid on hourly basis, and work may be up to 36.25 hours every week.

 

 

The Opportunity

InnoTech – Applied Chemistry Services

Vegreville, AB

  • Job Duties:

The summer students will be supporting for pesticide in water, air canister analysis and metals analysis projects. The students will be mostly preparing samples and support sample analysis.

 

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, students will follow the requirements of an ISO17025 accredited Lab Quality Management System.  They will be involved in the preparation of environmental samples to be analyzed the senior technologists.

 

At the end of the term, the students will become more familiar with day-to-day operations and support of a laboratory-based business.

 

  • Background Required:

Education focus:  Must be enrolled either high school Chemistry program, or in a chemistry-related program at University/College level.

 

Skills required: 

  • Computer knowledge including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Self-stater capable to work independently as well as on a highly integrated team.
  • Able to problem solving and must have strong attention to details.
  • Able to work effectively in a high-performance team environment.
  • Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up and carry up to 15 kg.
