Alberta Innovates is seeking a Contract Administrator within the Contracts and Information Management team. This is a permanent position and will be based out of our Edmonton office. This position is eligible for hybrid work. The Contract Administrator is responsible for preparing, reviewing, negotiating and managing contracts from the proposal stage to the execution stage at Alberta Innovates, InnoTech Alberta and CFER Technologies. This role involves learning and applying contract terms, business provisions, intellectual property considerations, and risk identification. The position works closely with senior contract administrators, financial analysts, legal counsel, and project leads, and requires a basic understanding of contract procedures and organizational policies. Familiarity with the business area and general knowledge of other sectors is essential.

Job Details

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review, draft, negotiate, and manage contracts in alignment with organizational risk profiles.
  • Handle a moderate volume of standard contracts and a small number of simple non-standard agreements (e.g., NDAs, RTQs, MTAs).
  • Ensure financial components are accurately addressed and documented.
  • Seek guidance to identify appropriate contract templates and perform minimal drafting.
  • Ensure contracts with substantial changes or non-standard terms are reviewed by the Contracts Team Lead.
  • Respond promptly to contract-related issues and concerns.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal Project Leads
  • Review internal and external proposals in accordance with Proposal Guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Project Leads to clarify scope, timelines, deliverables, and intellectual property terms.
  • Ensure financial components are properly addressed.
  • Seek regular guidance from the Contracts Team Lead to identify potential risks.

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:

·        Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or Legal

·        One-year related experience

·        Strong communication and organizational skills

·        Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors and inconsistencies

·        Analytical and problem-solving skills

·        Works well with others, strong team player
